A Transport Assessment has been submitted as part of Lidl’s planning application, which ascertains the development’s on the highway network. The report demonstrates via a traffic appraisal and sensitivity test that the proposal is acceptable from a traffic and transport perspective.
Existing bus stops are situated to the north of Spruce Way, approximately 100m from the Kings Ash Road/Spruce Way junction. Buses that service this area are the 108 and 109, which provide a circular service from Paignton Bus Station; each provide one service an hour.
An Advisory Cycle Route is situated on Kings Ash Road, adjacent to the subject site. This runs from the Churscombe Cross Roundabout 750m to the north and to Luscombe Lane and Smallcombe Road to the south.
Lidl proposed to install a cycle parking bay for customers in front of the store. The bay will accommodate twelve bicycles at any one time, and will be covered by a canopy. The proposed location allows for full visibility and monitoring by staff at the tills, as well as customers within the car park, ensuring that bicycles are secure at all times.
